A user's mail password is used for any services that grant direct access to UCO/Lick e-mail. This includes webmail, IMAP, POP, and authenticated SMTP. The password for a ucolick.org account holder is maintained separately from the user's UNIX password, though the steps necessary to maintain them are very similar.

Viewing or changing your password

From any computer on the UCO/Lick network, ssh to password.ucolick.org. You will need to use your UNIX password to authenticate with this system. Once you successfully log in, you will be presented with a menu of options.

Please select from the following:

        Change my UNIX password [u]
        View/change my mail password [m]

        Quit [q]

Your choice:

If you select m, you will be shown your mail password, and be presented with an option to modify it.

Change the email password? (y/n)

If you elect to change your mail password, you will be presented with a random permutation of characters; if it meets with your approval, hit y to select that password; if it does not, you can hit n any number of times to view a new permutation until you find one you find acceptable.

This system is not configured to allow user-selectable passwords.

Any changes made to your mail password will take effect sometime after 2AM the following night.
